Is a hybrid worth the extra money over a conventional model? Besides initial cost, you need to have it serviced by qualified techs, which may mean you need to return to the dealer. You do get better fuel mileage however some conventional cars can get close to the same mileage without the added complexity.
One other thing I thought of – what will be the value of these cars in 5 to 7 years. The batteries will most likely need replacing and the replacement battery for a Prius is about $3000 dollars plus labor. I’m sure the salesmen don’t point this out when purchasing the car.
    Just my thoughts, George

George, you make some good points. The thing to consider is "Total Cost of Ownership", or, how many cents per mile will it cost to use this vehicle over the period of time you’re going to own (or use) it? The numbers I’ve seen seem to show that regular gasoline will have to rise in price to at least $5.50 per gallon before you hit the break-even point with a hybrid VS a conventional vehicle of like size/weight.

Hybrids are waist. First of all It will take over eights years or more to make up the cost difference. Second not all shops are willing to work on them, So you are stuck going back to the dealer for almost everything.
